I really currently have two collections, and two styles that my ADHD takes me back and forth, between. Art was a way to an escape from what was going on around me. It brought me peace, self-reflection, and expression. I have always loved painting, both with a brush and with spray paint. But, I also love the way resin can give a piece such depth, and can give the viewer something different depending on the light and angle, seemingly ever changing.
My pop art pieces started out of a love for color and shapes, along with relatable, as well as sometimes gay icons. I like to celebrate the universal love for these characters and the joy they have brought so many. This style is also very adaptable and works well with both animal and human portraits.
My use of trees stems from the beauty of the branches overlapping, along with continuing to grow, despite the obstacles they face. I also like to use the heart, in some ways the arteries and veins look similar to the branches and the take the same pain, and grow and move on.
I prefer to work with larger canvases, but especially with commissioned work, I will work with the customer’s preferred size for their space. I also sometimes utilize multiple canvases to create a set or piece that can be manipulated by the client for their space. I enjoy collaborating with clients to create their dream piece.
I have shown with Bayou City Art Festival and art shows curated by Dandee Warhol and Hardy and Nance Studios. My pieces are exclusive to Higham & Associates.
